Can diet and exercise give you flat abs or do you need a tummy-tuck?

Dr. Houser, Columbus Ohio plastic surgeon, discusses abdominoplasty (tummy-tuck) with Gail Hogan on Daytime Columbus. With a tummy tuck, Dr. Houser actually repairs the stretched abdominal muscles, creating an “internal corset” and leaving his patient with a tight, firm abdomen. During a tummy tuck, sagging and excess skin is also removed which effectively slims the waistline. More information about tummy-tuck surgery can be found at www.drroberthouser.com

Can diet and exercise give you flat abs or do you need a tummy-tuck? Columbus, Ohio plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Houser, will appear on NBC4, Daytime Columbus Thursday, March 19th at 11:00am to discuss abdominoplasty which is commonly referred to as a tummy-tuck.

According to Dr. Houser, many patients end up in his office to discuss a tummy tuck after trying for years to flatten their abdomen with diet and exercise.  “A sensible diet and regular exercise are essential for overall health.  Unfortunately, after having children or after losing a large amount of weight, the abdominal skin and muscles are often stretched too far to fix with diet and exercise” explains the Columbus, Ohio plastic surgeon.

That’s where plastic surgery comes in. With a tummy tuck, Dr. Houser actually repairs the stretched abdominal muscles, creating an “internal corset” and leaving his patient with a tight, firm abdomen. During a tummy tuck, sagging and excess skin is also removed which effectively slims the waistline.

“I have tummy-tuck patients who are moms in their 30’s and 40’s who come back for post-operative appointments and they are showing off six pack abs. It does wonders for their self confidence…talk about a mommy-makeover!” explains Dr. Houser.

Dr. Houser performs abdominoplasty in his AAAASF accredited surgical facility, which is physically connected to Mt. Carmel / St. Ann’s Hospital, on the North side of Columbus. Even though a tummy tuck is often performed as out-patient surgery, Dr. Houser cautions against thinking of a tummy tuck as a minor cosmetic procedure. “A tummy-tuck is a complex surgery which should only be performed by a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon. Do not compromise your safety by allowing any physician, other than a plastic surgeon who is a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and a Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), to perform your tummy-tuck,” advises Dr. Houser.

For more information about abdominoplasty, watch Dr. Houser Thursday March 19th at 11:00am on NBC4 Columbus or visit www.drroberthouser.com.
